F-4 PHANTOM

Description

The McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom II is arguably one of the best known and most recognized of modern era jet fighters. Used to be United States Air Force, Navy, and Marines, as well as in many countries around the world, the F-4 Phantom saw extensive Action in Vietnam in the 1960's and 70's. It also has the distinction of being the only aircraft used by both the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds.

The F-4 Phantom II represents the most accurate scale model of this aircraft ever put into kit format and received high static score at Top Gun in 1990. Developed directly from factory loft data, this 1/10 scale model has all the classic lines of its full-size counterpart and can de built with a duplicate flight control system, including leading edge devices. The Phantom is 100% scale in outline, airfoils, and cross-sections, yet it features simplicity of construction while keeping economy in mind. The model features the scale inverted airfoil on the full flying stabs so the aircraft rotates just like its full-size counterpart. The F-4 utilizes a single 5" ducted fan unit with pretuned, bifurcated muffled tuned pipe for ease of installation and maintenance. The high-tech inlet system requires no auxiliary inlets and the aircraft may be built to replicate any variant produce in full-size, from B through S.

Whether your interest is in sport or competition, the Phantom's flight characteristics are nothing short of spectacular with speeds ranging from upwards of 160 mph to approximately 20 mph on landing. Flaps are an option, which adds realism in flight.

Molded in highest quality epoxy fiberglass, the F -4 Phantom kit includes a single piece fuselage, belly pan, high-tech scale air inlet system, bifurcated exhaust ducting, and afterburner cones. Pre-shaped inner wing panels and dorsal fin are cut from foam. Also included in the kit are precision pre.cut balsa and plywood parts, wing sheeting, canopy, vacuum-formed cockpit interiors, pivot mechanism for the full flying stab, and pre-bent landing gear wire. Comprehensive full-sized plans are included, as well as a photo instruction booklet. Options include: Air Force decals (two versions), F-4E/G nose, preseamed wing and centerline tanks, fiberglass wing fairings, scale oleo landing gear.

JHH-KIT-2
F-86F SABRE

Description

The F -86F is designed as a true ducted fan trainer. The intent of this development is to provide a simple to build and easy to fly trainer type ducted fan aircraft. As a trainer it is designed to be flown with the Turbax I and the K & B 7.5 ducted fan engine, but may also be flown with the Turbax III or any other 5" fan.

The flight characteristics of the F -86F are very much like that of a trainer. The F -86F has been designed with a modified flat bottom airfoil. This airfoil gives tremendous stability at all airspeeds, yet affords the flyer good control at low airspeeds. Landings are very simple and can be accomplished at low airspeeds. The model is difficult to stall and can be spun with no problems in recovery .Unlike other trainers, this model has been designed for Rhom Air Retracts.

The F -86F is provided in a complete kit concept. It includes a 3-piece fuselage. The hatch and nose inlet are now pre-formed as separate pieces, thus simplifying construction. The fuselage pieces and exhaust liner are lightweight epoxy fiberglass. A clear plastic canopy, foam wing cores, and all necessary balsa and plywood are also provided. Full-size plans are simple but complete, and an instruction pamphlet is included.

This kit can be built as either an Air Force F -86 Sabre or the Navy Fj-2 or Fj-3 Fury. The kit may also be ordered with an optional scale airfoil foam wing core for the more advanced flier.

F9F-4/5 PANTHER

Description

Known for its role in the Korean conflict and popularized in the movie, "Bridges at Toko-ri", the F9F-4/5 Panther played an extensive role for the U.S. Navy and did a remarkable job of supporting ground troops. In addition, the Blue Angels flew the Panther from 1949-55.

Imagine duplicating the heroic flying of combat or Blue Angel Panthers in 1/9 scale. As a Blue Angel, there are many aerobatic maneuvers which can be flown. As a combat replica, the modeler can choose from a number of paint schemes. Designed for the Turbax 48 ducted fan unit and the K & B .48ci. engine, the speed of the Panther ranges from approximately 160 mph to a modest 18 mph landing speed. The aircraft may be landed slower yet if speed brakes, wing and body flaps are used. These features are shown in the kit.

The Panther kit features epoxy fiberglass fuselage, a 3-piece inlet liner system, epoxy exhaust liner, and pre-seamed fiberglass wing tip tanks. The wing and stab foam cores are included, as well as a clear canopy and plans for building a cockpit. Wood parts are pre-cut from quality balsa and ply; sheeting is included as well. Five plan sheets and a photo instruction book provide ease of assembly. Use of Rhom air retracts are shown on the drawings. The Panther can also be fitted with a turbine engine. Scale shock gear is available and can be fitted with brakes.

A-7 CORSAIR II SEMI-KIT

Description

TheA7-D/E Corsair kit is 100% scale and consist of a lightweight epoxy fuselage, all internal ducting, and clear plastic canopy.  The scale airfoil is incorporated into the foam wings and foam dorsal. There is also an option for a built-up dorsal.   The vacuum form accessory set has all six wing pylons, are fueling fairing foe the Air Force version (D model) and the ECM antenna on the dorsal.  The main gear retracts are also included for the modeler’s convenience.  The plans show how to make a sport flying  wing and a fully scale wing with operating leading edge flaps, trailing edge flaps and a spoiler/deflector to assist in turning and rolling the aircraft.  The plans also include a 1/10 scale 3-view with panel lines. A generous size instruction booklet with step-by-step procedures and many, many photographs are provided to assist in building the model.  Decals for the Navy or Air Force are available as well as plenty of 8-1/2 x 11” size documentation materials for the competition-minded modeler. The aircraft is easily converted to turbine engine power.

The prototype models of the Corsair II proved to be outstanding subjects for ducted fan power.  With the high lift provided by the fixed droop leading edge of the wing and coupled with the trailing edge flaps, the model gives very positive control at incredibly slow flight speeds.  The model is very docile to land and needs only moderate take-off speed to become airborne.

The model can be operated with a minimum of 5 channels and up to as many as 7 channels if flaps and speed brakes are used. The A-7 possesses a long glide with 552 sq.in. of wing area.

F9F-8 COUGAR

Description

As a successor to the Panther, the Cougar was first flown in September 1951. In contrast to its predecessor, the Cougar featured a swept-wing, a 40% increase in wing area, and a thinner yet stronger tail. Early model c ougars saw limited service in Korea and the F9F-8 was flown by the Blue Angels from 1955-57. In January 1954, the first F9F-8 exceeded Mach I in a shallow dive-one of a very few aircraft with centrifugal engines to do so.

The  F9F-8 Cougar is very near to scale throughout and, as a model, handles easily and is more stable than most trainers. Designed especially for ease of maintenance, scale appearance, and flyability, the aircraft utilizes a proven internal airflow system. With its 755 square inches of wing area, the Cougar possesses along, flat glide. Using the K&B 7.5 engine and JHH Turbax I, the aircraft is capable of 125 mph flight speeds, and upwards of 150 mph with larger engine ducted fan systems. This aircraft has plenty of room for turbine fuel and has recorded speeds of 160 mph with the Golden West Models turbine. The F9F-8 Cougar is fully aerobatic, exhibits excellent slow flight characteristics, and is competition qualified.

The kit consists of a lightweight epoxy fuselage, a 3-piece epoxy inlet ducting system, fiberglass tailpipe liner, and a clear plastic canopy. Also included are 5 sheets of drawings which are full-size to the model, plus a comprehensive instruction booklet with 121 photos. All templates required to build the flying surfaces are included on the plans. Optional accessories include decals for two versions of military aircraft, a vacuum set consisting of 6 pylon bomb racks, 2 extended range fuel drop tanks, as well as plans for sidewinder missiles. The model will fly with a minimum of 5 channels. Additional scale features include dive brakes and flaps.
